Glen Arturo Hernandez (August 1, 1949 - December 19, 1998) was a former librarian at the Salt Lake Public Library in Kaneohe, Hawaii better known for being the father of pop singer Bruno Mars.

Death[]

On December 19, 1998, Glen Hernandez had died at the age of 49 after losing his ten month battle with prostate cancer. His son Bruno was devastated by his death and wrote a song called "Never Say You Can't" in response to his death, about the inspirational words Glen first gave to his son when Bruno was just a child. He was mentioned in The Lazy Song at the part where Bruno talks about getting his college degree and that his old man would be proud of him, despite being deceased for more than five years.
